I like your thumb....

So today was suppose to be a easy eventless day at home with the kiddos. No plans to go anywhere but pre-school to drop-off & pick-up David. But OH NO, life had different plans for me! I had just got home form picking up David and had his and Parker's lunch ready. So, I started to prepare Dave's lunch. Nothing fancy (no surprise) just a can of tortilla soup. I had the soup in the mircowave (yeah, I'm a WONDERFUL cook!) and was pulling off the tab on the lid of the can (ya know to collect for Relief Society for the Ronald McDonald house) and then it happened. I SLICED my thumb open on the inner crease. OUCH, I mean it...OUCH!!! I looked down to survey the damage, thinking it wouldn't be more then a really bad paper cut, but boy was I wrong. I saw the open skin and what appeared to be my bone. Now, I'm sure it wasn't my bone, but with the pain, and the blood that started coming out quickly that is how my over-reactive brain processed it. I got light headed, leaned on the counter and told David to please go get Daddy quick! (Thankfully he was home) Poor David was more worried about me and kept asking what was wrong to which he only got the reply "Mommy's fine, get Daddy!" Dave came in and I was already crying (yes, I cried...I'm telling you it HURT!). So of course David, being my caring son, saw his mom crying and started crying too. Great. So I had to "man-up" and in the calmest voice I could, told him I was fine. Took a bit to convince him, but he bought it. We got the kid's ready, I called Adrienne (my life saver!) to see if she can watch my boys while Dave took me to Urgent care. Once David heard that he was going to Danny's to play, he wasn't concerned for Mommy much. (In case your wondering Parker was still eating the whole time, LOL!) At urgent care, they glued my skin shut (crazy) and gave me tetnus shot. (Dave tried to convince me the shot was going in my stomach. FREAKED ME OUT. Gotta love his sense of humor.)

At dinner David asked if my thumb was all better and I told him it's working on it.

He said, "I don't want you to be hurt. I Love you. And I like your thumb too."

Me too, Buddy, me too.
